Transervice opens its doors to youngsters

Transervice Training, part of TPN Member Transervice Express, has recruited three young people as apprentices. The three 19 year olds, Paul, Abbie and Jacob, are being trained in traffic office management, business administration, and warehousing and storage respectively.

Sales director Darren Parker says: “It’s very important that we encourage young people into logistics. We have offered work experience to various candidates through the local job centre and took on the ones who showed the right work ethic and skills.”

The logistics industry as a whole struggles to engage young workers, and government funding is also limited.  “We want to train young people and give them the chance of a logistics career,” says Parker. “We are looking for aptitude.”

Transervice Training is in the process of developing a logistics apprenticeship programme for local employers.
