TPN celebrates hat-trick of accreditations

TPN — THE Pallet Network — is celebrating the third of its accreditations in 2017 with the addition of OHSAS 18001. In March the network achieved ISO 9001 in quality management and in July ISO 14001 in environmental management.

TPN MD Mark Duggan says: “TPN has always been geared towards a safe and quality operation, but these accreditations help us to demonstrate that to the outside world. It is one thing to know one’s own standards and protocols; it is quite another to submit them to external and objective scrutiny.”

Duggan notes that the accreditations come in a year where the network has achieved many other operational milestones, including expansion work at the Hub, continuing development of its TPN Connect system, and the successful delivery of four million pallets.

“The whole team has worked very hard this year to put us successfully through, not one but three accreditation processes, and particular credit goes to our health, safety, environmental and quality manager Steve Underwood who has project managed them all,” he adds.

Steve Underwood says: “TPN has always had a good safety culture throughout the organisation. We establish good working practices and work towards continual improvement. Being presented with the OSHAS 18001 is a recognition of our safety first-culture and our commitment to the people who work within our network and to public safety.”

He adds: “TPN is the sector-leading network and we are very determined to showcase our standards in every way we can. Having said that, it has been a tiring year with three accreditations in less than 12 months so I’m looking forward to the Christmas holidays!”

He says that OSHAS 18001 demonstrates to business and other interested parties that TPN is committed to and compliant with health & safety legislation and has a robust safety management programme in place. “It also helps us to establish targets so we can become even more proactive in identifying and reducing risk within the work place,” he says. “I believe that safety is an important goal in its own right but it also supports our ethos of excellent customer service and continually improved performance.”
