TPN’s recent developments, including significant investment in IT solutions, a Northern Hub and an expanded management team, are part of an evolutionary strategy which underpins its ‘back-to-basics’ formula of 100% customer focus, says MD Mark Duggan.
The Northern Hub, which opened near Preston earlier this year and has proved a great operational success, is a key part of making deliveries more efficient and relieving capacity at the Midlands Hub as volumes grow.
Award-winning new barcode scanners, which improve both efficiency and safety, have been deployed. The scanners can read far more information, and crucially, the contents of an entire double-deck trailer can be scanned, from the ground, in just 15 minutes.
Together with electronic signature capture which gives customers’ real time verification of delivery, the barcode scanners are part of TPN continuing commitment to strong IT investment.
TPN Connect integrates with customers’ own back-end systems, allowing them to input jobs directly and have real-time visibility of the consignment all the way through to delivery notification.
“It’s an exciting time within the network, and our Members have a real buzz about how we will continue to improve and invest,†says Duggan. “What we all understand, however, is that the high-tech solutions are purely to serve the most old-fashioned and fundamental concept of cracking customer service.â€
