Notts-based TPN Member B Taylor & Sons put its generosity and transport expertise to unusual use recently when it provided buggies to carry patients around hospital.
Taylors Transport Group held a summer garden party for staff and customers to celebrate two anniversaries – B. Taylor & Sons Transport Ltd 40th year and also Taylors Transport International’s 10th year. This event raised funds which were then topped up to the amount required from its own purse to provide two motorised patient transport buggies for Kings Mill Hospital.
In total Taylors raised more than £22,000 to pay for the new patient buggies for use at the hospital, in the company’s home town of Sutton-in-Ashfield. The buggies do over 1,000 journeys a week around the hospital with the help of 29 volunteer drivers.
The cheque to pay for the buggies was presented to Sean Lyons, chairman of Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust together with Tim Reddish, chairman and president of the British Paralympic Association.
MD Alan Taylor says: “We were proud and pleased to give something so useful back to our community. We are very grateful to all the guests who came to the garden party and who made donations to this excellent cause.â€
