Aldershot-based Hi-Speed Courier Services has invested in two environmentally friendly Mercedes-Benz tractor units, which meet the very latest emissions legislation and further cut their carbon footprint through excellent fuel economy.
The company has also streamlined its fleet by buying an urban trailer, designed to be pulled by a tractor unit but more manoeuvrable than a standard trailer. This means the tractors can work day and night, for trunking and collections and deliveries, taking smaller vehicles off the road.
“Buying the latest vehicles in terms of engine and trailer design makes our operation more efficient, cuts costs and is better for the environment,†says Ian Dawkins, MD. “We are also looking at some double-deck trailers.â€
Hi-Speed has three depots, at Aldershot, Camberley and Rugby. It services postcodes in Aldershot and Camberley for TPN. It is currently applying for planning permission to build a 28,000 square foot warehouse in Aldershot which would combine the Aldershot and Camberley depots, bringing greater efficiency.
“We have had our best year to date, not just in pallets but also our other specialities such as IT installation and same-day services to Europe,†says Dawkins.
