ETS Distribution cracks succession code

TPN Member for Loughborough ETS Distribution has successfully passed management of the business from founder Phil Elliott, who has worked at the company for forty years, to his son Jon.

Jon Elliott has spent five years in business development roles at ETS and says he will prioritise innovation and new uses for technology within its logistics solutions.

He says: “I see TPN as being integral to our future because the current management team has done so much to develop the technology and drive up service levels. More and more, we work with the data coming from the TPN system. We’re often delivering to RDCs and live sites with tight time windows, and typically our customers want ever increasing levels of information, traceability and reliability. TPN helps us to punch above our weight in all those.”

Continuity and succession planning is extremely important in transport and something that is lacking in the sector as a whole, despite being dominated by family firms. ETS has now joined several TPN Member companies, including TWE Haulage and HT Gardner Distribution, which have recognised the importance to customers of proper long-term planning and seamless transitions.
