Crawley–based Eezehaul has achieved environmental standard ISO 14001, citing its vehicle replacement programme as a key part of its success.
The company, which is committed to sustainable development, invested in five new Euro 6 Daf tractor units and six new 18-tonne rigids. The Euro 6 vehicles conform to the tightest European regulation on emissions, significantly cutting their exhaust output of nitrogen oxide and hydrocarbons.
Euro 6 vehicles tend to be approximately 10% more expensive than their Euro 5 predecessors. However, both their emissions output and their return on investment is aided by their extremely good fuel efficiency.
“Basically,†says finance director Jane Jones, “we are now running some of the cleanest, most efficient trucks the world has ever seen.
“As well as excellent fuel efficiency, they have great manoeuvrability and the on-board telematics and security features allow full visibility, traceability & safety for our drivers and their loads at all times. We also think they look really striking,†she says.
The CF85 vehicles have sleeper cabs and so can be used on both TPN pallet distribution work and Eezehaul’s more complex logistics solutions.
ISO 14001 also examines how companies dispose of hazardous material, manage noise, monitor energy, water and raw material consumption, recycle, and encourage staff to engage with environmental best practice. “We’re delighted to have been found compliant in all of these areas too,†says Jones.
