Dobbs Logistics sees economic growth

Eastbourne-based Dobbs Logistics is seeing distinct signs of market recovery.

Dobbs, which has been in operation for almost 50 years, says pallet volume is up 11% year on year. “We are putting about 250 pallets a week into the Hub and delivering 500,” says operations director Steve Morgan. “It’s great to see our customers thriving again and investment in the region picking up.”

One of its general haulage clients, pharmaceutical company Teva UK, has recently invested £10m in its manufacturing plant in Eastbourne and another £11m in an RDC in Castleford to which Dobbs delivers pre-packaged drugs.

The increase in pallet work has seen the company put another 18-tonner on to its TPN fleet. “Some of our customers are going from strength to strength. A good example is HB Ingredients which provides the raw materials for chocolate and supplies the tourist trade. Their business is booming, 38% up on last year’s turnover.”

Morgan says customers’ satisfaction with Dobbs’ transport services is easy to explain. “The network is extremely strong and delivers good performance. And we have an exceptionally loyal, brilliant team,” he says.
