Business development winner keeps investing in quality, fleet and operations

WT Transport, winner of  TPN’s 2017 Business Development Award, has invested in its fleet and operations to ensure that its service standards remain high despite continual growth.

“When we first joined the network, we made a concerted effort to go out and meet new customers, but these days it is mainly organic growth as we are well established within our area,” says MD Warren Tattersall. “We put about 150 pallets a night into the midlands Hub and expect that to be a steady 200 by the end of the year.”

WT is based in Northampton but covers Milton Keynes postcodes.

The company has bought three new Montracon double-deck trailers, some 9-tonne Mitsubishi Canters, and two curtainsided vans with tail-lifts. Its warehousing space has increased from 18,000 to 25,000 sq ft.

“Growth is wonderful but you have to be certain that you can offer the same high standards to your hundredth customer as you do to your first,” says Tattersall. “That’s also why we have become FORS accredited and a CLOCs champion to ensure road safety – because we want to conform to top industry standards.”
