Direct Express joins TPN

Logistics company Direct Express has started covering the Watford area for TPN and is already sending in full trunks every night.

Direct Express joined the network in November and is undertaking considerable investments to build the business. It is moving to a new 15,000 sq ft warehouse in Hatfield and has purchased a new double-deck trailer for its nightly artic run into the Hub.

The new warehouse will allow greater storage and pick and pack facilities. Business development manager Tony Page says that offering network services to its customers “enables us to send pallets more cost-effectively and also faster. We don’t have to keep pallets waiting around to group them; they can go the length of the country by next morning.”

Page is determined to sell the network hard and is sending out direct mail, is calling all delivery customers and is advertising in the specialist trade magazines to bring new customers in.

The company is also accredited by the regulatory body governing the movement and handling of medicines – MHRA and has a specialist division, Pharmadex Logistics, shipping bulk loads of packaged and palletised healthcare and pharmaceutical products as well as a pick and pack storage facility.
